Buses and Transportation Policy/ 2022-2023
American University Schools of the Middle East will ensure that transportation service is provided in a safe manner to eligible students.
School buses are to be used only for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and other such uses as directed by the Management in writing from time to time.
However, our students and parents have to help us in keeping the commute of our students to and from school safe and pleasant. Please read the following Rules and Responsibilities.
School Bus Safety; (Parent/Guardian and Student Responsibilities)
- Student's Responsibilities:
- You're expected to obey the bus driver and the attendant while on the way to and back from school.
- Enter the bus in an orderly manner and take your seat. You must remain seated all the time.
- Food and drinks are prohibited on the bus except (Sandwiches and Water).
- Big objects (other than your bag or books) or dangerous items such as (weapons, glass, lighters, tec..) are not allowed.
- Do not use windows or emergency exists without permission.
- You must keep your hands, arms, feet, legs and body parts inside the bus at all time.
- Keep the center aisle and bus exits clear at all times.
- Remain quiet and orderly. Be courteous to your school bus driver and fellow passengers.
- Keep your bus clean.
- You are not allowed to throw any objects inside or outside the bus.
- In case you lost any personal belongings, please notify the bus attendant or bus driver. Notify the school administration once you are in the school.
- No pets are allowed in the bus.
- You are not allowed to cause any verbal or physical harm to any of passengers of other buses or cars on the road.
- You are responsible to be aware of your school bus number and driver's name.
- Parent's Responsibilities:
- It is the parent/s responsibility to have their children ready before the bus comes. Your child should be at the bus stop at least five minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. If any delay is caused from your side then you will be responsible of bringing your children to school not the bus driver.
- Parents must teach their children proper procedures for safely crossing the roadway before loading and after leaving the bus.
- Parents must inform the school of any infractions done by bus driver or attendant, bus delays as well.
- Parents must be available to get their children safely from the bus stop. In case another guardian such as (a grandparent, a friend or a neighbor) is to receive your child please inform the school or the bus attendant ahead of time. In case no one is waiting to get the student, the bus driver has the right to bring the student back to school.

Inside the Bus
School buses are an extension of school. As such, students are expected to adhere to the same standards of behavior on a school bus as they do in the classroom. The school is responsible for the discipline of students who ride the school buses. Students who cannot comply with the school bus regulations may be denied the privilege of riding the school buses.
School Bus Infractions/ Rules violations (but not limited to) are:
- Causes bus delay more than three times in the academic year with no good reasons.
- Violating safety rules, causing damages to the bus or causing distraction to the bus driver.
- Leaves the bus before arriving to the designated destination.
- Continuing to misbehave during rides.
- Disrespecting fellow passengers, school bus attendant, the bus driver or any person outside the bus.
